Government schools hold exams of non-board classes

Final examinations of all non-board classes were conducted in offline mode in government schools today.

Owing to the surge in Covid cases, the examinations were conducted while adhering with strict Covid guidelines. For the convenience of many schools, where classrooms did not have a proper ventilation system, the Education Department is conducting examinations in morning and evening shifts for various classes.

Question papers delivered late

In many schools, question papers were not delivered on time. A teacher at Kot Mangal School said the Class VI English-medium paper for maths did not reach the school on time and was later photocopied from the original paper.
“Question papers have always been set by the respective subject teachers. Why did the Education Department take the matter in their own hands if they weren’t going to act on the responsibility? Such irresponsible behaviour impacts both teachers and students,” complained a teacher.

Before entering the examination hall, students' hands were sanitised and they were asked not to remove their mask during the examination.

A teacher at a government school here, on the condition of anonymity, however said that the invigilators were not too strict with the students as they had attended online classes for the session. “Students have lost confidence in appearing for exams. In case we act too strict, most students will not even pass the exam and get promoted. We have to remain slightly lenient this time,” he said.

Students without masks outside school premises

While schools followed strict Covid guidelines, students were least bothered to adhere to the same. After the exam got over, many students were seen discussing question papers outside the premises without masks.
