Students shine in speech, essay competition

As a part of a series of events being organised by various departments dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur by the Punjab Government, district-level speeches and other educational competitions were conducted by the Education Department of Punjab.

Students from as many as 32 schools of the district participated in the district-level speech competitions conducted at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Mall Road.

As many as 34 students of the district participated in the secondary category of the elocution competition.

Rupinder Kaur from Government Senior Secondary School, Chheharta, was awarded the first prize and Sandeep Kaur, Government Senior Secondary School, Mall Road, was given second prize in elocution competition.

Arundeep Singh from Kot Baba Deep Singh won first place, Dolly and Simranjit Kaur from Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Mall Road won second and third place, respectively, in the co-educational essay competition.

In the middle category, Gursharan Singh from Government Middle School Malanwali, Deepika from Mall Road School and Rajbir Singh from Kot Baba Deep Singh secured first, second and third place, respectively. The winning students were jointly honoured at an event held today.
