‘I like challenges’

Sayantani Ghosh, who was last seen in Naamkarann, is currently playing the role of Dr Anjali Gupta in Star Plus’ Sanjeevani. She talks about playing a doctor and working in different mediums

How is it working with senior actor Mohnish Bahl?

Mohnish Bahl plays my father in the show. The father-daughter bond is one of the most pivotal aspects of the narrative and I have immense respect for him because he is so professional.

Tell us about your role in the show.

I am playing the role of Dr Anjali Gupta and I think I am giving my 100 per cent to it. It’s a complex character and has a key role in the storyline.

Is it tough playing a doctor?

No. After so many years of experience I like challenges. Of course, to get the technicalities right, we have doctors on board to guide us with the body language and technical terms. An experienced actor would always get into the skin of the character.

We hear you are doing theatre as well. Please share details.

Ovee- A Haunted Hostel is my first theatre show. It’s a horror comedy. Doing theatre was always on my wish list. I think it is a very challenging medium. I am enjoying the process and have got good feedback for this play.

What’s next for you?

One web project is in the pipeline. Let us see where life takes me.

Diwali is around the corner, what are your plans for the festival?

I am going to celebrate Diwali with my mom, brother and some friends. My mother is specially coming to Mumbai.

How do you manage to look so fit amidst hectic schedules?

Fitness for me is a lifestyle choice. It is always a work in progress. I try to work out as much as I can.  I enjoy disciplined lifestyle.

One health tip for the fans?

I just get the basics right and I drink lots of water daily.
