5 booked for abducting teenager; one arrested

A teenage girl was allegedly abducted by five persons from Bhagupur village, 35 km from here. The incident around two weeks ago when the girl went to the village market. One of the accused has been arrested while others are absconding, the police said. ASI Charan Singh, investigating officer, said the accused had been identified as Tejbir Singh, his brother Arashdip Singh, Nishan Singh of the same village, Sukhdev Singh of Bhail Dhai Wala and Harpreet Singh. Harpreet has been arrested. According to the ASI, the girl’s father stated that the accused took the girl away in an SUV when she had gone to the village market.

The father of the girl appealed to the police to trace the girl at the earliest. He said the police should interrogate the arrested person sternly to make him spill the beans about the possible whereabouts of the girl.

The police hoped that the girl would be traced soon.
