Amritsar: The Municipal Corporation approved development works worth Rs 30 crore in its budgetary meeting held on Monday. Chaired by Mayor Karamjeet Rintu and MC Commissioner Komal Mittal, members discussed 30 proposals for development works to be carried out at different wards. The MC gave nod to mark the 400th ‘Parkash Purb’ of Guru Tegh Bahadur and carrying out façade work at Guru Ka Mahal. Several projects to relay roads, sewerage pipes, interlocking tiles and installing tubewells at different areas were also approved. Rintu said development projects lying on the back burner will be taken up and fast tracked. TNS
Couple arrested with intoxicants
Amritsar: The Amritsar (rural) police have nabbed Jodh Singh, alias, Ballu, and his wife Heena, for allegedly possessing sedative pills. The police have confiscated around 13,000 intoxicant pills, 30-gm heroin and Rs 74, 300 of drug proceeds from their possession. Ajnala DSP Vipin Kumar said a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the duo and further investigation was under progress. TNS
