AMRITSAR, FEBRUARY 16

A day after 4-hour rail line blockade by agitating farmers in the state, train traffic was normalised on Friday. Railway officials stated that it would take several hours for the rail traffic to normalise today as several trains had been running late since last evening.

Passengers turned out in good numbers at the railway station as state and private transport buses were off the roads due to the Bharat Bandh call given by farmer organisations. Passengers avoided visiting the ISBT and reached direct to the railway station to reach their destinations.

On the other hand, road routes between Amritsar and Delhi continue to be blocked due to the stalemate between the farmers and the Haryana Government. It had limited impact on the arrival and departure of goods to the National capital. Trucks carrying fresh fruit and vegetables continued to depart from Delhi. Similarly, private AC buses being plied between Amritsar and Delhi at night continued their operations on changed routes.
