AMRITSAR: Sleuths from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), in a joint operation with custom authorities, confiscated gold worth Rs 1.50 crore from Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport here on Friday.

Sleuths from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), in a joint operation with custom authorities, confiscated gold worth Rs 1.50 crore from Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport here on Friday.

They also nabbed the agent of a company who had come take the delivery of the gold. The consignment that reportedly came from Thailand arrived through cargo of a private airline. Further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, the custom authorities also nabbed a passenger from Afghanistan, Saddam Ufzali. He was carrying over 400 gm of gold in an illegal manner. He had kept it in his shoes.
