With differences between Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and the Congress state leadership coming to the fore, his old colleagues from the BJP have started taking pot shots at him.

During a meeting at the BJP office here today, district BJP president Rajesh Honey said, “The Local Bodies Minister was not invited to the meeting held for the announcement of the Mayor in his own city. It clearly shows his stature in the party.”

Sidhu did not attend the meeting in which the names of Mayor and other office-bearers were announced today. During a press meet yesterday, he made it clear that he would not attend the meeting as he was not invited.

By not attending the meeting, Sidhu has clearly expressed his displeasure over not being consulted for the appointment of Mayor and other office-bearers.

In a press release issued here today, Rajesh Honey said Sidhu should accept his political defeat and quit politics. “The BJP had given utmost respect to Sidhu and his wife, but they did not care for the party and joined the Congress for personal gains,” said Honey.

BJP leaders stated that when Rajinder Mohan Singh Chinna was appointed the Chairman of the Improvement Trust, Sidhu had publicly opposed the appointment.

“Now, it is to be seen whether Sidhu will show the same attitude and oppose the new Mayor’s appointment who is clearly not appointed as per his wish,” added Honey.

Leaders of the SAD are not also far behind in taking jibes at Sidhu. Former Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia in a press released also took pot shots at him.
