Residents of Pudhar Colony and Guru Arjan Dev Nagar in Putlighar have been receiving contaminated water supply for the past few days. They say that their complaints to the Municipal Corporation (MC) appear to have fallen on deaf ears.

According to area residents, the civic body, instead of dilly-dallying, should come with a concrete solution to the problem.

Ravi Kumar, a city resident, said water supply was regular but water stinks most of the times. “It happens as sewage gets mixed with potable water. When we turn on our tap, it delivers contaminated water for 15 to 20 minutes. The stench is unbearable. After some time, the water quality improves,” he said.

Earlier, MC employees had visited us and assured that the problem would be solved but to no avail,” said Sunil Kumar, another resident.

Meanwhile, Anurag Mahajan, Superintending Engineer of the Operation and Maintenance wing of the MC, said, “Our staff will get it checked tomorrow. The issue will be addressed soon. We are committed to provide potable water to the residents and will make every effort to address the issue.”
