GNDU bags top positions at National Youth Fest

Amritsar: As many as 70 universities participated in the National Inter-University Youth Festival, which was organised by the Association of Indian Universities from February 10 to 14 at Shivaji University, Kohlapur.

Amritsar: As many as 70 universities participated in the National Inter-University Youth Festival, which was organised by the Association of Indian Universities from February 10 to 14 at Shivaji University, Kohlapur. Teams of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) participated in music, literary and fine arts items. The university won overall second runners-up position, besides a championship trophy in music. A GNDU team won first position in classical instrumental (percussion, non-percussion, group song - Indian, folk orchestra). It got second position in light vocal, poster making, besides third position in classical vocal and western vocal solo. In elocution, the GNDU team secured fourth rank. The GNDU Vice-Chancellor, Prof AS Brar, congratulated the participant teams, their teachers/trainers and the director, Youth Welfare Department, for the achievement.

Results declared

Result of examinations of bachelor of computer applications (Semester – I), b vocational (retail management, semester – III), postgraduate diploma in computer application (semester – I), poatgraduate diploma in financial services (banking and insurance, semester – I), MSc (bioinformatics, semester – I), MA geography (semester-I) and MSc (network and protocol design, semester – III) held by Guru Nanak Dev University in December last year have been declared. It is available on the university website www.gndu.ac.in.

400 compete in athletics meet at KCET

The fourth annual athletics meet was organised at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET) today. The aim of the event was to promote sportsman’s spirit amongst students, besides enhancing their physical and social skills. More than 400 students competed in various athletic events. Girl students of BTech (first year) mesmerised the audience with their energetic presentation of Punjabi folk dance Bhangra. While address the participants director of the college, Dr Amarpal Singh, stressed on the importance of sports activity for the overall personality development of a person Pawandeep Kaur of the Electronics and Computer Engineering Department was declared the best athlete amongst girls and Shubham of masters of engineering bagged the best athlete title among boys. The tug-of-war competition was won by BSc (agriculture) team in the girls’ category while students of the Civil Engineering Department were the winners among boys. Earlier, students of all branches of the college presented a colorful march-past on the campus. During the oath taking ceremony, students solemnly pledged to uphold spirit of true sportsmanship. Dr Amarpal lauded efforts of students and faculty members for making the event a huge success. Dr Gursharan Singh, dean (agriculture), Khalsa University, and Gurdial Singh, Principal, Khalsa College of Management and Technology, were also present on the occasion. Winners of various events were awarded trophies, medals and certificates. — TNS
