Govt teacher booked for locking up village school

AMRITSAR: Beas police have booked a government teacher from among a dozen village residents for allegedly locking up the government school at Cheema Bath village after his transfer on July 23.

Beas police have booked a government teacher from among a dozen village residents for allegedly locking up the government school at Cheema Bath village after his transfer on July 23. They were booked following a probe conducted by the Naib Tehsildar who submitted his report to Ravinder Singh Arora, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Baba Bakala.

Besides the teacher Amandeep Singh, those who were booked include Kashmir Kaur, Sandeep Kaur, Prem Singh, Narinder Singh, Veer Singh, Harsimran Singh, Dilbagh Singh, Kulwant Singh and Balraj Singh, among others. A case under section 341, 186, 147 and 149 of the IPC has been registered against them. The SDM, in his complaint to the police, said Amandeep Singh was transferred from the government school at Cheema Bath village. He was shifted to a government school at Attari. During the probe, it was found that he along with former panchayat of the village, provoked the residents and forcibly locked up the school and did not allow the teachers and students to enter. An inquiry was conducted by him along with the Naib Tehsildar. He submitted his report to SDM Ravinder Singh Arora who lodged a complaint with the Beas police. — TNS
