Amritsar: Four members of a family have been booked by the Rural police for domestic violence and seeking dowry. The victim, Ranjana, of Dream City has accused her husband, Saurav Raj Purohit, and his family of allegedly thrashing her and demanding dowry.



Amritsar: Four members of a family have been booked by the Rural police for domestic violence and seeking dowry.  The victim, Ranjana, of Dream City has accused her husband, Saurav Raj Purohit, and his family of allegedly thrashing her and demanding dowry.  Besides Saurav Raj, the police booked his mother Madhu Raj, sister Ritika, all residents of Kapurthala, and RK Sharma of Ludhiana.  Police officials said she lodged a complaint on September 2, alleging that she was being harassed for not bringing enough dowry. Following preliminary probe and taking legal opinion, the police have registered a case under Sections 498-A, 405, 323, 324 of the Indian Penal Code. TNS

3 accomplices of gangster held

Amritsar: Following the interrogation of gangster Angrej Singh, the city police have nabbed three persons, including a woman, who used to provide him shelter after he used to commit crime.  They have been identified as Sarabjit Kaur, her son Jugraj Singh and Gurjit Singh. They were on a four-day police remand for further interrogation. Angrej Singh, who was wanted by the police in around 15 cases of robbery, bank dacoity, murder and attempt to murder, was arrested on Friday from Tarn Taran. He was an accomplice of notorious gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Sonu Kangla, Bobby Malhotra and Shubham Singh gang. Shubham was recently nabbed by the Batala police following an encounter while the remaining were already lodged in different jails. TNS
