City boy Gurnoor Singh Khurana (17) has done the city proud by securing 22nd All India Rank in the JEE Advanced the results of which were announced on Friday.

The meritorious student is aspiring to grab a seat in the prestigious IIT-Bombay. “The aim of the education is not to bag hefty pay packages, but to bring a positive change in the lives of people,” he says. He wishes to use his computer science engineering skills to upgrade lives.

He belongs to a family of doctors and engineers. His father Jasmeet Singh Khurana is a businessman, while mother Navjot Kaur is a schoolteacher. His sister Mehak Khurana is an MBBS student.

Khurana credits his success to his parents and faculty at his coaching institute — FIIT-JEE. Besides, he thanks his well wishers for their support. “I practised mock test papers. I have been solving two test papers a day in a time-bound manner. My parents, other family members and teachers have played a big role to make me achieve this milestone.”

Gurnoor and his family were expecting him to make it amongst top 40, but 22 was not expected, he says. “He has been working hard, focused on his studies. I am proud of him. The rank is beyond our expectations. He has been a dedicated student,” says his proud mother Navjot Kaur.

Talking about the key to crack any examination, the young lad says one should keep pressure at bay and focus on clearing concepts. “There is no point in taking stress or pressure. Make sure to clear doubts on time. Do proper revision and take guidance of parents and teachers seriously,” he adds.

Gurnoor has pursued Class XII from Delhi Public School.
