Malik: It’s united BJP vs divided Congress

Rajya Sabha MP and state BJP president Shwait Malik on Wednesday said that the BJP was a cadre-based party that had been taking concrete moves in the wake of upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, since the declaration regarding his Congress candidature, has been busy patching up with his party MLAs who oppose him,” he said.

“There will be a contest between the united BJP and divided Congress. Around 11 crore workers have been associated with Modi-led BJP. The elections are fought on strength and determination of the workers. Today, we opened offices in Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Pathankot (Gurdaspur) for the three Lok Sabha seats. At every destination, our leaders were present. On the other hand, the Congress is a scattered group. Their candidates have been facing opposition from their own party workers. Senior leaders have openly been revealing the failure of Capt-led state government,” he said.

Malik emphasised that during the current tenure of Capt Amarinder Singh-led Congress government in the state, drugs, land and sand mafia had prospered. “We will expose the Congress’ false promises of giving free plots to homeless, waiving of farmers’ debt, unemployment allowance, SC scholarship and subsidised power to industrialists,” he added.
