Man strangles wife, flees; police on hunt

AMRITSAR: A married woman was strangled to death allegedly by her husband in Bandala village here yesterday. The police have booked the accused, identified as Kuldeep Singh. He is yet to be arrested.

A married woman was strangled to death allegedly by her husband in Bandala village here yesterday. The police have booked the accused, identified as Kuldeep Singh. He is yet to be arrested.

Heera Singh, brother of deceased Rekha Rani, said she was married to Kuldeep Singh around six years ago. The couple had two children. He alleged that the accused was suspicious about her character and this was the reason behind frequent quarrels between the couple.

He said Kuldeep used to assault his sister. The Jandiala Guru police have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC. The police said the accused was on the run and raids were on to arrest him.
