Milk canter crushes man

Tarn Taran: Jasmail Singh (65), a resident of Chamba Kalan village, 35 km from here, was crushed by a milk canter in the village on Friday. The driver of the canter, who has been identified as Jarnail Singh  of Harike, has been booked under Sections 304-A, 279 and 427, IPC. Ajitpal Singh, the son of the deceased, told the police that his father was going to the village market when the accused driver crushed his father to the wall of a nearby house.OC 

Amritsar-Howrah train cancelled

Amritsar: The Northern Railway has cancelled Howrah - Amritsar Mail (13005) today due to operational reasons. Sources in the Railways said, consequently Amritsar – Howrah Mail (13006) will also stand cancelled on October 16. TNS

Display of fireworks

In the wake of the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Deputy Commissioner Kamaldeep Singh Sangha has directed that fireworks can be displayed between 6 pm and 9 pm  on Diwali (October 19). He said no firecracker could be burst before 6 pm and after 9 pm. TNS

Guru Ram Das celebrations
