The rural police have suspended a drug addict cop who tried to change his urine sample for procuring negative reports in order to hoodwink police officials. He has been identified as Kulwinder Pal. The police have also initiated a departmental probe against him.

According to the police, he placed a urine sample of his relative which was detected by the machine. He also confessed the same during interrogation by senior police officials.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vikram Jeet Duggal confirmed the same. He said the police had started having 360-degree view of the deadly menace and developed strategies to eradicate it from society. “Currently, annual medical examination of the police force is being conducted. It is during this examination Kulwinder Pal was caught. During the medical check-up, around 20 cases were found to be suspicious wherein further medical tests were recommended to confirm whether these cops were taking drugs or not.”

Usually, cops indulged in drug addiction don’t come for annual medical examination and we are keeping an eye on it.

“If found indulging in drug abuse, they will be given a chance to get detoxified and rehabilitated,” the SSP said, adding that in case anyone failed to mend ways, the strongest possible measures would be taken which include their dismissal from service.
