Road mishaps claim two lives

Two persons died in road mishaps here on Monday.

Amit Mehra alias Chintu of Fatehgarh Churian road lost his life when a rashly driven car hit his bike. He collided with the road divider and sustained serious head injury. He was rushed to a private hospital where he died.

Sachin Mehra, brother of the deceased, informed the police that around 10.30 pm a car hit his brother from behind, who was riding motorcycle, on the Fatehgarh Churian bypass. The have police registered a case against unknown car driver under Sections 304-A, 279 and 427 of the IPC in this connection.

In another incident, a youth identified as Rajwinder Singh of Kotli Naseer Khan village, falling under the Gharinda police station, was killed while his maternal uncle Jasbir Singh sustained serious injuries and admitted to a private hospital here.

Jagir Singh, father of the deceased, informed the police that he along with his brother Balwinder Singh riding a bike while his son Rajwinder and his (Jagir’s) brother-in-law Jasbir Singh were on separate motorcycle.

They were going to meet his sister Manjit Kaur at Nangli Bhatha village.

He said as they reached near Gumtala Bridge bypass, a rashly driver car hit Rajwinder’s motorcycle while the car driver fled the spot.

The police have registered a case under Sections 304-A, 279, 337, 338 and 427 of the IPC against unidentified person.
