Amritsar, February 21

The protesters said contractual employees should be regularised. Release of arrears, equal pay for equal work and addition of buses in the Roadways fleet are among their demands.

Balraj Singh Bhangu, state leader of the committee, said the state government should stop its plan to convert roadways into a corporation. He said that the constitution of the corporation was neither in the interest of the employees nor of passengers. He said that the protest was a complete success as no roadways buses were operated during the three-hour long protest.

The protesters said the Congress appeared to have forgotten its promises that it had made before the Assembly elections last year to garner votes. They demanded fulfillment of their demands.
