Youth ‘abducts’ minor; hunt on

The Ajnala police booked a youth for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl in Sarangdev Chhanna village here on Thursday.

Narpinder Singh, investigating officer, said a probe was under progress and police teams were conducting raids at suspected hideouts of the accused to trace the girl.

Father of the victim stated to the police that Nishan Singh developed physical relations with his elder daughter on the pretext of marrying her. Later, when he refused for marriage, the complainant’s daughter lodged a police complaint against him. Enraged over this, the accused kidnapped his younger daughter on Wednesday night. He said the family searched for her but failed, so a police complaint was lodged.

The police have registered a case under Sections 363, 366 of the Indian Penal Code and 4, 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against the accused.
