AAP wants strict punishment

BATHINDA: Leaders and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday took out a protest march against the rape incident reported in Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir to demand justice for the victim. The protest march was headed by AAP leader and MLA from Bathinda (Rural) Rupinder Kaur Ruby.

Leaders and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday took out a protest march against the rape incident reported in Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir to demand justice for the victim.

The protest march was headed by AAP leader and MLA from Bathinda (Rural) Rupinder Kaur Ruby.

The march started from Fire Brigade Chowk and passed through various markets in the city. People also lit candles in protest.

Rupinder Kaur Ruby said the accused in such incidents should not be spared at any cost. They should be given harsh punishment, she added.

She said the Union government needed to come up with strict guidelines for such accused, who must be hanged.

AAP leaders Navdeep Singh Jeeda, Anil Thakur, Bhupinder Bansal and others were present during the protest.

Residents come out in support of victim

Malout: Local residents on Monday took out a candle march in the town demanding justice for the Kathua rape victim, Asifa.

They said the Centre and state government of Jammu and Kashmir must give justice to the family and strict punishment should be given to the accused.

Besides, some residents took out candle march in Muktsar town as well. Earlier, in the day, a large number of students, under the banner of Punjab Students’ Union (PSU), took out a protest march in the town.

Some social activists, under the banner of Muktsar Vikas Mission, too demanded harsh punishment for the rape accused.
