Bathinda, March 6

Following protests by employees of the Sewa Kendras of the district, BLS International Services Limited, the company running these centres, has clarified that it has not retrenched any employee.

In its official statement, it said, “The contracts of only two employees have not been renewed, owing to their involvement in unethical practices. Being an organisation working to bring transparency and integrity, BLS International has a zero-tolerance policy towards corrupt and unethical practices.”

The two employees in question are Preet Pal and Amandeep Kaur, both of whom have been shown the door by the company.

The employees, however, claimed that they were not given a chance to present their side of the story.

District manager, Suwidha Kendra, Parmanand Garg, said, “While Preet Pal failed to deposit the money of the centre into the bank account, Amandeep was found to be lacking in shouldering responsibility of the activities going on at the sewa kendra where she was employed.”

Preet Pal, who was working as a computer operator at the Amarpura Basti Sewa Kendra, said, “The employees had not been paid salaries for four months and the protesters decided that they would withhold the payment till their salaries are released. Of all, I was taken to task for doing so and my contract was not renewed.”

Coordinator of the Bhagta Bhai Ka sewa kendra, Amandeep, said, “I was held responsible for the unethical practices of the guard of the centre during the night hours. My contract has not been renewed and my salary for the past four months has also not been released.”

Meanwhile, the district manager stated that the contract of all employees had been renewed till July 31.
