Bathinda, January 13

A day after the registration of a case against SAD workers and the president of Panthers Club of Rampura Phul for violating the model code of conduct, Congress workers were allegedly spotted violating the code.

A flying squad today conducted a raid at Phullowala village of Rampura Phul constituency after SAD workers had launched a complaint with the Returning Officer (RO) about the violation of the model code of conduct against Congress workers over filling forms for employment and those related to farmer suicides.

Though the police said they had not registered a case yet, Rampura Phul RO Narinder Singh Dhaliwal claimed that a case had been registered in this regard as he had directed the police to do so.

“The case has been registered at the Phul police station. After we received the complaint, we immediately took action. The accused managed to flee but forms have been recovered,” said Dhaliwal.

Three days ago, the Rampura Phul RO had issued a notice to former sarpanch of Hakamsingh Wala village and depot holder of Rampura Phul over the allegations of distributing Blue Cards among voters. AAP workers had filed a complaint in this regard.

On January 8, Panthers Club of Rampura was issued a notice after a truck with liquor and sports kits was seized during a raid conducted by the Rampura RO and other officials after a complaint lodged by Congress and AAP workers.

A case was registered under Sections of the Excise Act against the accused.

Around 60 sports kits, including 15 cricket and nine volleyball kits and 36 gym stations were seized.

Around 20 sealed and 6 opened liquor bottles were also recovered.
