Elections to the state body of Indian Medcial Association (IMA) were conducted recently, in which Dr Vikas Chabbra was elected unopposed as vice-president of IMA Punjab. Dr Chabbra is also currently serving as president of IMA Bathinda.

The new body of office bearers of IMA Punjab was elected for the 2020. Dr Chabbra has been working consistently for the cause of medical fraternity for the past 2 years as president of IMA Bathinda. He has also achieved ‘best district president’ award for 2018.

Earlier this year, Dr Chabbra strongly advocated ‘right to safety’ of doctors, when a number of cases of manhandling and alleged medical negligence cropped-up in the city.

He said: “The credit for my successful election to the post of vice-president of IMA Punjab goes to the joint efforts of the Bathinda IMA team and the state unit. I am grateful to the team members for extending support to me and standing rock solid with my decisions. The Bathinda IMA branch participated at the state and national-level protests and conventions against the implementation of the National Medical Commission Bill. A number of CMEs, awareness rallies, medical conferences and workshops were organised at the district and regional level. There was also a specific emphasis on organising cultural activities and sports events throughout the year.”
