Bathinda, April 16

MF Farooqui on Monday took charge as IGP, Bathinda range, replacing MS Chhinna, who was transferred as IGP, Human Rights, on April 7.

Farooqui was serving as IG (Crime) prior to this. After taking charges, Farooqui conducted a meeting with Bathinda SSP Naveen Singla, Mansa SSP Parambir Singh Parmar and Muktsar SSP Susheel Kumar.

Outlining his priorities, he said maintaining law and order with the help of people would be his top priority.

Besides, he said they would initiate all possible measures to control crime. Farooqui, a 1995-batch IPS officer, had served as Mansa SSP in the past.

Now, he has the charge of Bathinda, Muktsar and Mansa districts. Earlier, IGP Chhinna had the charge of seven districts coming under the Bathinda zone, including Moga, Ferozepur, Fazilka and Faridkot, apart from the above three. However, the state government has now divided the Bathnida zone into two ranges — Bathinda and Ferozepur. — TNS
