Minister inaugurates state-of-the-art multi-skill development centre in city

BATHINDA: Union Food Processing Minister and local MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal today inaugurated a state-of-the-art multi-skill development centre here in the complex of the Industrial Training Institute, where training will be provided to over 2,000 students annually in various skill courses.

Union Food Processing Minister and local MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal today inaugurated a state-of-the-art multi-skill development centre here in the complex of the Industrial Training Institute, where training will be provided to over 2,000 students annually in various skill courses.

After inaugurating the centre, the minister said the centre would provide training to students of Bathinda and rural areas of other districts in 19 streams, including apparel and textiles, manufacturing, automotive, automotive designs, fitness, English speaking, IT and soft skills.

She said the course duration would be between three months and one year.

Giving details, she said candidates with education up to Classes V, X and XII would be eligible for the courses.

She said under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Skill India Mission, the partner of Punjab Government in Punjab Skill Development Mission, Gram Tarang, had joined hands with 12 renowned companies of the country.

Harsimrat said these companies would provide placements to the candidates after completion of their respective courses from the centre.

Divulging details regarding candidates from BPL families, Badal said these candidates would get free accommodation, meal and transportation as all such expenditure would be borne by the government.

Meanwhile, the minister accompanied by local MLA Sarup Chand Singla handed over a letter of intent to more than 200 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana. Addressing the gathering, Harsimrat said under this prestigious scheme of the Centre, beneficiaries would get Rs 1.5 lakh monetary assistance to construct their houses. As many as 42,000 urban beneficiaries would be covered under the ambit of this scheme out of which over 5,000 would be from Bathinda. The remaining beneficiaries would be provided monetary assistance for construction of houses in the future as the district administration was completing the requisite formalities.

Earlier, the union minister also laid the foundation stones of upgraded schools at Bandi, Gurusar Sainewala, Phoos Mandi, Nehianwala, Beer Talab Basti 2 and 3 and Harraipur villages.
