Residents of the district will be allowed to burst firecrackers for three hours from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm on Diwali night. The district administration has issued the directions for Diwali and Gurpurb.
In his order, ADC (General) Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu said, “According to the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, residents will be allowed to burst firecrackers from 6.30 pm to 9.30 on Diwali and Gurpurb. It is further directed that there shall be no bursting of crackers before and after Diwali till further orders of the court.”
Earlier in its order, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had imposed a ban on bursting of crackers and set a three-hour time frame for it on Diwali and Gurpurb with an aim to keep a check on pollution.
