MUKTSAR: Vigilance sleuths arrested a PSPCL lineman while accepting a bribe of Rs5,000 from a woman here on Monday.

Vigilance sleuths arrested a PSPCL lineman while accepting a bribe of Rs5,000 from a woman here on Monday. According to information, the suspect had threatened the complainant to remove the electricity meter issued her under the BC quota.

Paramjit Kaur of Sangrana village had lodged a complaint with the police in which she alleged that linesman Raju demanded money from her and threatened to remove the electricity meter issued her under the BC quota.

“Earlier, Raju had taken Rs2,000 from me. Now, he demanded more Rs5,000,” she told Vigilance officials. DSP Vigilance, Muktsar, Raj Kumar led the team that had laid a trap and arrested the lineman.— TNS
