Spurious desi ghee seized in Malout

A team of the Health Department, on Wednesday night, seized 48 kg of spurious cooking material from a local shop, which was being sold as desi ghee. The team said the seized material was bought from Haryana.

“It had come to our notice that some dealers were selling some ‘cooking material’ as desi ghee. A surprise visit was conducted in this regard and 48 kg of the material was seized. The samples have been sent for laboratory testing. Besides, we have lifted some samples of other cooking material as well,” said Kamalpreet Singh, Assistant Food Safety Commissioner, Muktsar.

He further claimed that the surprise visits would be conducted in the future as well.

Notably, the state government has launched Tandarust Punjab Mission and various such raids are taking place in the district. — TNS
