Amritsar, September 20

A youth lost his life while two others sustained serious injuries when their bike got skidded on elevated road here late on Wednesday night.

The incident was spotted by Congress leader Sandeep Singh Dhunna who called 108 Ambulance. Since the ambulance took time to reach, he along with an NRI got the victims admitted to a hospital where one of them was declared dead. Later, he was identified as Nakul, a resident of Lakshmi Avenue, said Satnam Singh, in-charge of the bus stand police post.

He said the initial probe indicated that they were returning from a marriage function. The bike was apparently at a high speed due to which they lost control.

Dhunna said he was returning home from Ranjit Avenue when he spotted the three lying on the road. He said he dialed 108, but the ambulance was late so he signalled cars to stop. Later, an NRI stopped to help him shifting the victims to hospital. He said timely help could have save the youth.
