12 held for drinking in public, granted bail

CHANDIGARH: The police arrested 12 persons for consuming liquor at public places.

Chandigarh, June 24

The police arrested 12 persons for consuming liquor at public places. The accused were later released on bail.

A special drive against consuming liquor at public places was carried out at different parts of the city during which a total of 12 cases were registered under Sections 68-1-14 of the Excise Act. The drive will continue in future also.

Apart from this, two persons were arrested and 48 halves & 68 quarters of country-made wine were recovered from their possession. Cases have been registered against them at Sector 31 and Sector 36 police stations. Later, the accused were also released on bail.
