Mohali, March 19

A 16-year-old girl, a student of Class XI, allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her rented accommodation in Nayagaon here on Monday.

The deceased, a native of Leh-Ladakh, was studying at New Public School in Chandigarh.

The investigating officer said a suicide note was recovered from the spot in which the victim stated that she was taking the extreme step as she was not happy with her life.

A police official said her uncle, an Army man, posted in Chandigarh, had been informed about the incident. “The girl’s neighbours and kin claim that she was of reserved nature.
