2,471 take possession of vending sites in city

CHANDIGARH: Of the total allotted 4,977 vending sites in the city, 2,471 vendors have taken the possession of the space in three days.

Of the total allotted 4,977 vending sites in the city, 2,471 vendors have taken the possession of the space in three days.

According to the MC, at Sector 15, the largest vending site in city, 650 vendors have taken the possession of their allotted spaces. There are 936 vending sites there.

In Sector 19, 28 of the total 31 vending sites have been occupied. In Sector 22, vendors have taken the possession of almost all the vending sites. Of the total 89 vending spaces, 85 have been occupied by vendors.

More vendors from Sector 19, 22 and no-vending zone Sector 17 were shifted to Sector 15 on Friday.

However, sites at Sector 7 have not drawn good response yet. Only 46 vendors have taken possession of their allotted sites. There are a total of 150 vending sites in the sector. They have been shifted from no-vending zone Sector 1-6.

Meanwhile, the MC seized the goods of unauthorised vendors who tried to sit at Mani Majra, Sector 22, 49, 50, 46 and other places. Rehris and other stuff were impounded.

Earlier, the MC staff visited different sites and said they would provide water, electricity and other basic amenities at the 44 vending places in the city.
