Mohali, June 13

Over two weeks have passed since District Mining Officer Simarpreet Kaur Dhillon lodged a complaint against General Manager of the Industries Department of misbehaving and abusing her, but no case has been registered.

On the contrary, five days after lodging the complaint, the GM and others got counter complaints filed against her.

Official sources said Dhillon was being told to compromise even as she had been allegedly misbehaved with by Tehal Singh Sekhon several times.

As per her complaint to the Mohali SSP and Phase I SHO, it has been alleged that on May 25, Sekhon came to her room in the afternoon and sought a copy of a mining report prepared by her regarding three mining sites on the directions of the Supreme Court to assess the availability of sand and gravel.

When she refused to give him the copy, the GM allegedly snatched it away.

Simarpreet alleged that he also abused her in front of the office staff. It was further alleged that Sekhon even misbehaved with a woman cop attached with her.

On the other hand, complaints were filed against the mining officer on May 31 by the GM and his staff. In a complaint given by the GM to the Phase I SHO, it has been alleged that the mining officer passed casteist remarks against office boy Jaswinder Singh. The GM sought action against her.

While a block-level extension officer in his complaint alleged that she asked her to collect money through wrong means. A local resident, Jagbir Singh, alleged in his complaint that when he went to meet her for some work related to his land, she sought money from him.

However, Simarpreet refuted the allegations, saying the complaints were made by the staff and people at the behest of the GM and all were lodged after her complaint to counter her. While Sekhon too denied allegations and added that though there had been several complaints against her, she deliberately lodged a complaint first. — TNS
