Chandigarh, November 16

After suffering an embarrassment against Bengal in their previous match, Chandigarh girls today pulled their campaign back on track with a seven-wicket win against Odisha in their Group D match of the Women’s U-23 T20 Trophy at RVR & JC College grounds in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.

Chasing 112 runs for victory, Amanjot Kaur and Kashvee Gautam stitched an unbeaten 65-run partnership for the fourth wicket to steer Chandigarh home after the side was in a spot of bother at 50/3 in 8.4 overs.

Amanjot remained not out on 47, while Kashvee made an unbeaten 42.

Indrani Chhatria was the most effective bowler for Odisha, claiming 2/23 in her four overs.

Earlier, Odisha failed to gather any momentum as they lost wickets at regular intervals after skipper Anjali Singh had elected to bat.

Kajal Jena (42) and Poonam Nayak (30 not out) offered some resistance to the Chandigarh attack, but could not take their side to a competitive total.

For Chandigarh, Nandani Sharma (1/33), Kashvee (1/21), Amanjot (1/13) and Parushi (1/25) took a wicket each.

Yesterday, Chandigarh while chasing 77 runs for victory against Bengal were bowled out for 28 runs.
