Biker dies in hit-and-run

Zirakpur, October 14

A youth riding pillion died when their motorbike was reportedly hit by a car on the Zirakpur-Patiala stretch near Bhullar resort here on the intervening night of October 13 and 14.

The deceased has been identified as Gurwinder Singh, a resident of Banur.

Gurpreet Singh, brother of the deceased, told the police that he, along with his friend, had come to Zirakpur and was heading back towards Banur. His brother, Gurwinder, was riding pillion on a separate motorcycle driven by Ajay Kumar and they too were heading in the same direction.

The complainant said when they reached the GT Road near Bhullar resort, a rashly driven car, which was also heading in the same direction, hit Ajay’s bike. He alleged that Gurwinder sustained injuries and was rushed to the GMCH-32 where he succumbed to his injuries. The police have registered a case against the unidentified car driver. — OC
