Chandigarh, November 9

An all-round effort helped Chandigarh register a nine-wicket win over Mizoram in their fourth Plate group match of the U-23 One Day Trophy at Vikash Cricket Ground in Cuttack today and maintain a clean slate in the tournament so far.

Opting to bowl after the match was reduced to 25 overs-a-side due to rain, Chandigarh bowlers justified the decision of their skipper Jagmeet Singh as they bundled out Mizoram for 89 runs in 24.4 overs.

After a brisk start, Mizoram lost wickets at regular intervals and failed provide any momentum to their innings.

Van Lal Hruaitluanga was the first to go, castled by Harshit Singh after scoring 21-ball 22. Bhagmender Lather then dismissed Gaurav Singh a couple of balls later to reduce Mizoram to 35/2 in 7.2 overs.

Captain Dha Nur Sikri could add just one run to the total before he became the second victim of Lather.

Lalhriatrenga Lalzuiciana was then consumed by Harshit on 13 to spell more trouble for Mizoram.

A needless run out brought an end to Rohan Chowdhury (8) before Nipun Padita got the better of Lal Roluahpuia Ngente (10).

Mizoram lost their remaining four wickets for the addition of just 23 runs to eventually close their innings on 89.

Harshit (2/21) and Lather (2/8) claimed two wickets apiece.

Chasing a modest total, Chandigarh romped home in 14.1 overs with Jagmeet Singh hitting an unbeaten 45 off 36 balls and Raman Bishnoi remaining not out on 27.

Opener Mohd Arslan Khan was the only wicket to fall in the Chandigarh innings. He was caught by Gaurav Singh off Muanzuala on 13.

Brief scores

Mizoram 89 all out in 24.4 overs (Van Lal Hruaitluanga 22; Bhagmender Lather 2/8, Harshit Singh 2/21) lost to Chandigarh 90/1 in 14.1 overs (Jagmeet Singh 45*, Raman Bishnoi 27*)
