DERA BASSI: Three Congress workers sustained injuries when they were reportedly attacked wih sharp-edged weapons by SAD activists at Chandigarh Apartments on Barwala road here on Sunday night.

Three Congress workers sustained injuries when they were reportedly attacked wih sharp-edged weapons by SAD activists at Chandigarh Apartments on Barwala road here on Sunday night.

The victims are identified as Amrish Kumar, his nephew Kushal and their neighbour Akshay, all residents of Chandigarh Apartments. Investigation Officer (IO) Narinder Kumar said pasting posters of their respective parties on the walls was the reason for the attack.

The IO said victim Amrish Kumar in his complaint to the police had alleged that when he was returning home around 11 pm, more than a dozen persons with sharp-edged weapons attacked him and two others. They alleged that the accused also beat up the women members of the apartments. The IO said the Congress workers pasted posters of their campaigning on the walls of the apartments. Earlier, the SAD workers had pasted posters here and the Congress workers replaced them. 

Narinder Kumar said Ashok Kumar Bishnoi, along with his nephew Prikshat, residents of Chandigarh Apartments, and nine other persons attacked Amrish and his two accomplices. The victim had sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Dera Bassi Civil Hospital  from where they were referred to the GMCH-32. A case has been registered, the IO added. — OC
