Deadly experiences while travelling in the dead of night

How safe is Chandigarh for those working late into the night? Saying that the city is better than metros won’t be wrong, but what about the safety of those women who commute in the dead of night. The IT Park, call centres, radio stations, news channels and other offices have staff working night shifts. Tribune reporter Ishrat S Banwait talks to a few of them to know their horrendous experiences on city roads.

Murmurs turn into chorus

  • Seeking women’s security, the Chandigarh and Haryana Congress organised a ‘Mashaal Juloos’ in Sector 17 on Thursday.
  • Pawan Kumar Bansal, former Union Minister, Ashok Tanwar, president, Haryana Congress, and Pardeep Chhabra, president, Chandigarh Congress, participated in the protest. Bansal said the stalking incident was unfortunate.
  • He said it was a matter of grave concern for city residents.  Ashok Tanwar demanded Subhash Barala’s resignation. Chhabra said an inquiry should be marked into the incident. Photo: Pradeep Tewari
