Despite boycott, 158 students file nominations

PANCHKULA: Even as the NSUI, INSO and SFI students’ union decided to boycott the students’ elections in various colleges in the district as well as the state, the students affiliated to the unions have filed nominations to contest elections which will be held after two decades.

Even as the NSUI, INSO and SFI students’ union decided to boycott the students’ elections in various colleges in the district as well as the state, the students affiliated to the unions have filed nominations to contest elections which will be held after two decades.

Dr Archana Mishra, principal, Government College, Sector 1, Panchkula, said the college had formed various teams of faculties to help students filing the nominations.

She said a total of 98 nominations had been filed on the last day of nominations and the final list would be displayed in the college on Sunday.

She said 27 students filed nominations from the arts stream, 22 from BSc medical and non-medical streams and 20 from the post graduate courses.

She said a total of 34 Class Representatives (CSR) would be elected by the 2,414 students. Similarly, at Government PG College for Women, Sector 14, Panchkula, a total of 60 students filed nomination.

Giving details, Dr Ashutosh Sharma, vice-principal of the college, said there were 1,850 students in the college who would elect 23 CRs.
