Despite rain, no relief from humidity

CHANDIGARH: Southern sectors of the city and parts of Mohali today recorded 43.5 mm rainfall, but still it could not bring relief from the sweltering heat. Humidity levels that ranged between 52 per cent and 98 per cent did not allow the showers to bring down the day’s temperature.

Chandigarh, July 5

Southern sectors of the city and parts of Mohali today recorded 43.5 mm rainfall, but still it could not bring relief from the sweltering heat. Humidity levels that ranged between 52 per cent and 98 per cent did not allow the showers to bring down the day’s temperature.

However, the weatherman has predicted heavy rain in the city on July 7 (Tuesday). “The temperature is also expected to dip by 4 to 5 degrees,” said an official from the Chandigarh Met Department.

The maximum temperature recorded today was 37 °C, two notches above normal while minimum temperature was 30 °C, four notches above normal.  The airport point recorded only 0.3 mm rainfall till 5.30pm.  While the weatherman has predicted light rain on Monday, heavy rainfall is likely in Chandigarh and its periphery on July 7. There is possibility of pleasant weather this week, said officials.
