The Federation of Socialism, Patiala, organised the Prof Randhir Singh Memorial Lecture on Marxism and nationalism at Prabhat Parvana Memorial Trade Union Centre here today. 

Professor Achin Vanaik from the University of Delhi was the key speaker on the occasion.

Dipankar Bhattacharya, general secretary, Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist Liberation (CPI-ML), said the party would hold its 10th national Congress in Mansa from March 23 to 28 to strengthen all communist forces against ‘fascist ideology’ of the BJP.

A book based on Randhir Singh’s works and views of other experts on his writings was released at the event. Nephew of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Prof Jagmohan Singh, who is the president of the Jamhuri Adhikar Sabha, presided over the event.

Bhattacharya said leaders from other communist parties, including Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist party of India Marxist CPI (M) and Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI), would also be invited to the event. 

He said as many as 1,200 delegates from different states would also attend the event. 

He said, “We are inviting all like-minded Left parties to the event. We have also invited Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani as he is known for his Left-minded ideas for the Dalit movement. The party will take out a ‘Inqlab’ rally on the occasion.”

Prof Vanaik spoke on the relation of nationalism and Marxism. 

He said, “Lenin’s ideas conveyed equality of all cultures and the right to self-determination.”
