HPCA to face UTCA in JP Atray memorial opener

CHANDIGARH:HPCA will face UT Cricket Association (UTCA) in the opening match of the 25th All India JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament on September 1 at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium.



Chandigarh, August 30  

HPCA will face UT Cricket Association (UTCA) in the opening match of the 25th All India JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament on September 1 at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium. A total of 16 teams have confirmed their entries in the championship.

The league state of the tournament will be played at Government College Ground, Ropar, Government Model Senior Secondary School (Sector 26), PCA New Stadium, Mullanpur, St John's High School (Sector 26) and DAV Senior Secondary School (Sector 8). The quarterfinals will be played on September 8, followed by semifinals on September 9. The final will be played at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium.

This year, PCA and Baroda Cricket Association will field two teams each; the second outfit consists of U-23 players. HPCA, Assam, UPCA and UTCA are the other four state teams participating. 

Last year's winners FCI Delhi and runners-up Minerva Cricket Association will also be in the fray. The winner of the tournament will get a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, while the runners-up will get a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. There will be a Man of the Match award for each match. Best batsman, best bowler and player of the tournament will also be awarded. — TNS
