“Design reflects creative inner thoughts and with the advent of new technology in designing, young professionals have more options to their disposal,” said Prof Albert Macaya, University Rovira I Virgili, Spain.

He was speaking during the valedictory ceremony of International Design and Creative Meet at Chandigarh University.

Design Experts from Spain, Italy, India, Netherlands and Australia took part in the 2-day design and creative meet during which workshop on painting, sketching, computer designing and sculpturing was arranged for the students of industrial design, fine design and fashion design.

“Although computer-based designing has taken over, but canvass offers more creativity for an artist and as a student of designing one should focus on developing skills in making new innovative designs through hands,” said Dr Albert Macaya.

Exhibition and model display was organised in which sculptures, paintings, sketches and industrial design models were prepared by the students of department of design.

Daniel, II year student of BDesign, won the best designing competition and Ragini Aazad, I year student won the best painting competition. Vikas Deham, II year student of fine arts won the best sculpture award. — OC
