International symposium on membrane biology from Dec 3

MOHALI: National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), along with its co-partners Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Punjab State Council of Science and Technology (PSCST) and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) are organising a three-day Hargobind Khorana Memorial International Symposium on ‘Genes, Genomes and Membrane Biology’ from December 3 to 5 on the NABI campus in Sector 81, Mohali.

National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), along with its co-partners Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Punjab State Council of Science and Technology (PSCST) and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) are organising a three-day Hargobind Khorana Memorial International Symposium on ‘Genes, Genomes and Membrane Biology’ from December 3 to 5 on the NABI campus in Sector 81, Mohali.

The symposium is being organised in association with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Colorado State University, USA.

The symposium is dedicated to late Prof Hargobind Khorana, who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1968 for his pioneering work on the interpretation of the genetic code and its function in protein synthesis.

Over 30 foreign scientists across the world are going to participate and deliver scientific lectures in the symposium, which is expected to see a participation of more than 300 scientists and researchers of the country.

Dr TR Sharma, Director-NABI, said: “The symposium of such a magnitude is the first-of-its-kind in the tricity. It will provide a platform for young students and scientists to interact with distinguished scientists from all across the globe.”— TNS
