IOC claim inter-petroleum title after 4 years

CHANDIGARH:Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) defeated hosts Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) by five wickets to win the 39th Inter-petroleum Cricket Tournament, concluded at Mahajan Cricket Grounds, on Sunday.

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) defeated hosts Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) by five wickets to win the 39th Inter-petroleum Cricket Tournament, concluded at Mahajan Cricket Grounds, on Sunday.  

Winning the toss, BPCL captain Dhawal Kulkarni elected to bat. The side scored 138/6 in allotted 20 overs. Opener Rahul Tripathi scored 51 off 44 balls and Akhil Herwedkar contributed 29 runs off 20 balls to remain the best scorers for the side. Rishab Chouhan was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3/18 while Aesh Khan, Balwinder Sandhu and Nitish Reddy claimed a wicket each.

In reply, IOC achieved the target on the last ball of the 20th over. Siddesh Lad remained unbeaten on 41 runs off 30 balls and scored the winning run. Ravikant Shukla and Aditya also contributed 31 runs each in IOC's win. The side won the trophy after a gap of four years. Lad was adjudged Man of the Match, while Rishab Chouhan claimed the best bowler title.
