Sumit’s ton in vain as RBI face 6-wicket defeat

Sumit Ghadigaonkar’s century went in vain as RBI Mumbai lost to RSCC Delhi by six wickets in the ongoing 24th All-India JP Atray Memorial Cricket Championship, at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, here, on Tuesday. 

Opting to bat, RBI were all out for 216 runs in 47.5 overs. Ghadigaonkar scored a solid 109 off 119 balls, including 13 boundaries and a six. 

Chirag Parmar added 31 runs to the total and together with Ghadigaonkar stitched a vital 74-run partnership for the sixth wicket. 

Rahul Chaudhary was the pick of the bowlers for RSCC, claiming 4/22. Sunil Dalal took 2/35.

In reply, RSCC romped home in 36.1 overs with six wickets to spare. Rahul Yadav hammered a 64-ball 87 and was involved in a 96-run stand for the fourth wicket with Parth Madann (26). 

Sumitra Singh (3/49) was the most effective bowler for RBI. 

Rahul Yadav was adjudged Man of the Match.

Sharad propels Warriors 

At St John’s High School grounds, in form Sharad Lumba blasted 96 runs off 53 balls to help BTM Warriors defeated Air India Delhi by four wickets. 

Chasing 302 runs for victory, Warriors, aided by Lumba’s heroics, reached home in 46.5 overs. Rohan Marwaha made a 98-ball 97.

The two raised 137 runs for the third wicket in just 14.3 overs. 

Prince Yadav (2/58), Vision Panchal (2/51) and Lalit Yadav (2/63) picked two wickets apiece.  

Earlier, Air India scored 301/8 in the allotted 50 overs after they were asked to bat by Warriors’ skipper. Opener Sagar Dahiya made 76 runs off 91 balls, while Kashish Pasneja hit run-a-ball 37. Sagar Sehrawat (36) and Vision Panchal (30) also made useful contributions to the total. 

For Warriors, Narinder Singh took 3/75, while Varun Khanna returned with figures of 2/26.

CAG beat GST & Excise

CAG Delhi, meanwhile, registered a 48-run win over GST & Excise Chennai at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula. 

Batting first, CAG scored 302/9 in 50 overs. Akash Bashisht made a patient 52, while Karanveer Singh hit a brisk 51. 

Mohit Handa (47), Amit Thakur (44) and Amit Prashar (33) also made valuable contributions to the total. 

Amit Sidhu was the most effective bowler for the Chennai outfit, claiming 3/38. 

Needing to score just over six runs per over for victory, GST & Excise Chennai were bowled out for 254 in 46.1 overs even as Ayush Sikka (69), Harsimrat Bawa (52) and A Venkaraman (50) scored a half-century each. 

Karanveer was the wrecker-in-chief for CAG, picking up 4/54. Nipun Pandita (2/42) and Arpit Pannu (2/30) claimed two wickets each.

Prabhjot shines for Minerva

In another match, Prabhjot Singh slammed a 128-ball 111 to guide Minerva Cricket Academy to a 142-run win against Mahadev Sports Management. 

Batting first, Minerva rode on Prabhjot’s knock to score 342 runs in 50 overs. Jeevanjot Singh made 69 off 73 balls. The duo also added 106 runs for the second wicket. 

Arush Sabharwal and Vinay Chaudhary chipped in with 46 and 27 runs, respectively. Anuj took 4/65.

Mahadev Sports Management, in reply, were bowled out for 200 in 44.1 overs. Anil claimed 3/30, while Vinay Chaudhary (2/38), Sumit (2/17) and Raghav (2/55) bagged two wickets each.

Nehal Wadhera (40) did the bulk of scoring for Mahadev Sports.
