Mohali, June 26

A local court on Monday sent former police Inspector Inderjit Singh and ex-BSF personnel Sahib Singh to judicial custody in a drug and firearms case after the special task force (STF) did not seek extension in police custody.

The court has already sent the third accused, former ASI Ajaib Singh, to judicial custody. Earlier, the defence counsel, along with the kin of Inderjit Singh, alleged that he was implicated in a false case by the STF. “The STF has failed to give any solid proof against Inderjit Singh so far. We will soon approach the high court against the STF,” said the defence counsel of the ex-cop. Making similar claims, the defence counsel of Sahib Singh claimed that the STF had made no recovery from him. “Eight cases have been slapped against Sahib Singh but the STF made no recovery in any of the cases,” said the counsel.
