Chandigarh, February 13

An accused in the HCS Judicial paper leak scam, Sunita, has moved an application in the court to obtain video footage of house search conducted by the police. The application has demanded a CD of the video of the search of the Ropar house of another accused and High Court judge Balwinder Kumar Sharma.

The defence has claimed that the police are not conducting a fair probe as the items recovered from the house have not been produced in the court. The police have been served a notice to reply to the application by February 22. Sunita has also asked for a CD containing the recordings of the conversations between Sunita and another accused Sushila wherein Sunita is claiming to have the question paper of the exam.

Three persons Balwinder Sharma, registrar at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, and two beneficiaries Sunita and Sushila were booked by the police in the high-profile case. A High Court committee looking into the case had recommended scrapping of the examination after prima facie finding that some candidates had access to the question paper.

The committee had said at least two candidates, Sunita and Sushila, had the question paper. The committee had also stated that Balwinder Sharma unequivocally denied prior acquaintance with Sunita, the general category topper. The call details furnished by the service provider revealed that 760 calls and SMSes were exchanged between Sharma and Sunita over the past one year.
