Khushi Dewan drubbed Pavit Kaur 6-0 6-1 grab a place in the girls’ U-14 second round in the ongoing STA-AITA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Championship at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, here today.  

Simran Pritam registered a 6- 6-2 win over Sourvyi Srivastava, Radhika Vasudeva beat Prachi Batra 6-3 6-4 in the girls’ U-16 opening round. 

Vanshita Malhotra advanced to the second round after beating Nishita Singh 6-3 6-3. 

Vrinda Sharma got the better of Milli Pandit 6-1 7-5, while Aditi Singh edged out Avishi Saxena 6-1 6-4. Radhika Vasudeva beat Prachi Batra 6-3 6-4. 

Catherine Bhangu rallied from a set down to beat Ananya Sharma 3-6 6-3 6-0 and Vanshita Malhotra edged past Nishita Singh 6-3 6-3.

Samarbir enters Rd 2

In the boy’s U-14 opening round, Samarbir Sidhu blanked Yashvardhan Gaur 6-0 6-0, while Parth Goel dumped Hardik Chaudhary 6-2 6-1. Gurjosh Singh overpowered Om Tripathi 6-2 6-0. 

Aarav Singh Gill, meanwhile, overcame Karan Gulecha in a sea-saw battle ensure a place in the boys’ U-16 second round. 

Gill started with a 6-3 win, but lost the second set 2-6. He, however, regained his composure to seal the final set 6-4.  

Karan Sandila outclassed Rakshit Dhankar 6-1 6-1, while Mahismat Kumar move ahead with a 6-1 6-2 win over Avish Verma 6-1 6-2. Umakant Singh blanked Kartikya Benda 6-0 6-0.
